School Days
I can't believe it...my baby started pre-school last Monday. It all happened so fast! We (my mom, me, and Michelle( our friend/School Administrator)) always talked about her starting in October when she turned 2 but then my assistant went on maternity leave and my mom has been doing a lot of subbing at the school so Emmie has been coming with my mom and spending a lot of time in my classroom (which it has just not been successful to have me as Emmie's teacher...plus all of my student think of Emmie as a kind of "mascot" since she was born so they don't leave her alone...blah blah blah). Anyways I had her try out the Early primary 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 age group and she was totally ready. So since my mom is still subbing for at least 4 more weeks I just figured why not? Emmie loves it, she does great, and she's totally ready. So Monday was her first day and she LOVES school! It all happened a little sooner than I had expected - but surprisingly I'm having an easier time with the transition than my mom.

A Voice and A Legacy
Mary Travers, a woman who deserves a tribute. A tear comes to the eye...well okay, more than that, I've been blubbering all afternoon. She's gone ( This is a really nice article in the New York Times) and I never truly appreciated the impact that Peter, Paul, and Mary had on my life. Peter, Paul, and Mary were the background music of my childhood. I knew little of their history and background until a few months ago when my parent were watching a PBS special on them and we joined in - they really were one of a kind.
Mary is a wonderful voice that will be missed, not only for the beauty of her voice but for the meaning of the words she sang. Here's to you Mary.

A Large Lime...
That's about as big as Baby Coleman #2 is! That's right...We're expecting! I'm 11 weeks along and we heard the baby's healthy heartbeat today! Baby is due April 4, 2010...we'll have to see if this one will be a due date baby like big sister (what would the odds be?).
I probably wont be posting too much about the pregnancy on this blog...but if you would like to follow along come visit my pregnancy blog. I love reading about others experiences so I thought I'd blog about my own...even though...so far nothing too exciting - this pregnancy has proved to be just like my first...easy as pie.
The pregnancy could explain the loss of my keys and now my phone...mom brain...I swear, pregnancy sucks away brain cells...

I Won Something!
I never win anything...and a few weeks ago I won a family photo shoot! Coolest prize ever! I've been talking to Matt for the longest time about getting some family photos taken...we got a few taken when Emmie was like 10 days old...but lets face it, 10 days after giving birth is not necessarily the best time to be photographed...at least not for sleep deprived new parents. Anyways...needless to say - I'm excited! now all i need to do is figure out what to wear...I have an idea - but It may be too trendy for me to pull off...we'll see. Check out the photographers too - they've got some good stuff! Sara's blog has a link to Jenna's.

Totally Rocking Outfit
Totally awesome right? Put together by Emmie herself (okay she already had the shirt and pants on...they were the jammies she was wearing)...but the rest is all Emmie.

STELLA!
Our sweet Emmie has been being a typical toddler lately - testing her boundries - throwing tantrums (I know...not our sweet Emmie right?? just proof that even the most adorable children have their terrible two moments).
So her not so new thing has been to give a hit or threaten a bite to show she's really not happy with what you're telling her. We've been really consistent with re-directing her to hit or bite a pillow instead of us and she (for the most part) is cool with that. She'll do her thing and then be done with it and move on.
BUT I've decided that by the end of this "Terrible Two" stage I would still like my pillows to look nice so I made Emmie what has been dubbed her "STELLA!" Pillows. They look different then any of our other pillows (and I didn't pay a cent for them - just sewed up and stuffed two old shirts). She seems to like them and has even used them a few times to help her through her "moments".
This is a little back ground for all of us who aren't familiar with the "STELLA!" reference...a short clip from Marlon Brando's shining moment in the film, A Streetcar Named Desire
