Tempe Empty Bowls

On Saturday we went to the Tempe Empty Bowls event at the Tempe Library. Matt and John helped by setting up tables for the event and we thought it would be fun to check it out. It turned out to be really great. First you go and pick out a hand made ceramic bowl (most of which are donated by Tempe High Schools). Then you pay for the bowl and they give you a ticket to get some soup and bread. The soup was from Whole Foods and it was super yummy. We had an awesome time!

Solids -Yuck!

At the doctors office last Monday our Pediatrician told us that we could start introducing solid foods to Emmie any time between now and 6 months. Well for the past little while Emmie has been watching us when we eat... she watches us pick up the food and put it in our mouths...even mimics us - opening her mouth when we open ours - it's really funny! So since she does this we thought she might be "ready". I taped our two attempts...needless to say we'll be waiting a little while before we try solids again...

Four Months!

Emmie went in for her four month well baby check today...you know what that means...shots! She did really well...Thank goodness for baby Tylenol! This picture is before the shots - she was having a great time playing with the lining paper until the doctor came in. Emmie is now 14lbs 1 oz, 24 inches long She's grown so much in only 4 months! - she's in the 50th-75th percentile in both. The doctor commented on how strong she was for a 4 month old and warned us about Emmie being an early teether (I knew it...remember a month ago when I thought she was teething...no one believed me...okay - well I guess it was more like pre-teething - but still....now they're ready to break through). All in all she's a healthy kid! Yeah!

Sunday Walks

For the past couple of weeks It's been so nice outside after church that Emmie and I have decided to go on walks around the neighborhood while Matt does music things. I've always carried her in a little front pack but yesterday I decided, since she's getting bigger to try out the stroller....she loved it! She was looking around and cooing at everything...we both had a good time!

4 generations

Every Christmas for the past 6 years or so we always say "this is going to be grandma's last Christmas" and every year she proves us wrong. This lady has some true Pioneer blood running through her - she's one tough cookie and still has the spunk to prove it! Although her memory is faded and doesn't seem to know who we are, she knows we're there and makes us smile. I'm so glad Emmie is getting the opportunity to meet her here on this Earth.

Giggle

Emmie has the greatest little pouting lips and we have yet to get a picture of it...this was our attempt: (I sound silly...It was worth it for the laugh)

This is a picture of the closest thing we've gotten to those lips

Crazy Weather Days

I took this picture last Monday when we were having that crazy rain storm...I was on my way home from work and this is what I was driving into. (okay...yes I did take the picture while I was driving and that's usually not a safe idea...) When I left work it was sunny but the more i headed north the closer I came to this dark sky - you can see in the picture were the light stops and the darkness starts. It felt kind of eeri...like I was driving into a dark abyss of some sort. Got to love the rain though! Hopefully it will help the drought situation!

Daddy - Daughter Bonding

Matt discovered that Emmie is able to grip and hold onto his drum stick...therfore it was time for her first lesson!
(Heidi, I finally got Emmie's room on tape for you....it's not decorated at all ... a work in progress....if anyone has any inexpensive/easy ideas of what to do with the baby/drum room let me know! I need help.)
