Another Night Time Reading Story

After I put Emmie to bed the other night I hear her shuffling around, but don't pay it much mind because, as you saw from previous the previous dog post, she like's books (and dogs). So I go about my business. A few minutes later I hear her say "Mommy" and this is how it went:

I peek my head in and find Emmie sitting up in bed with her blanket over her lap and my nursing book opened wide (fortunately it was the one that doesn't have many photos!). I startled her and realize that she wasn't calling me but simply acknowledging the mommy in the book.

Emmie: Hi Mommy
Me: Hi Emmie, are you reading?
Emmie: yes (long pause) now go away.
Thinking Me: pardon...I didn't mean to intrude!

I blew her a kiss (trying not to get my feelings hurt because my two year old daughter just told me to "go away"), she waved sweetly back, and then I closed the door. 10 minutes later I check on her and she has her dolly under one arm and the book under the other. It was cute.

FHE Week 12

Week 12

We went on a family walk. It was beautiful out Monday night!
As we walked Emmie pointed out the moon, trees, grass, dogs...and just about everything else that she saw. This is how one of our conversations went:

Emmie: Look at that! The moon!
Me: Who made the moon?
Emmie: Jesus.

So sweet!

I didn't get any pictures of this week...so you get to look at this one - the first time Emmie rode in her stroller. She has always LOVED her stroller rides!
(Sometimes I wish someone would push me around in a stroller and feed me snacks!)
Emmie is either 5 or 6 months in this picture...my little baldy...

An Emmie tid bit

A few nights ago when Matt went into Emmie's room to check on her before we went to bed, he found her asleep not snuggling with her dolly but with this book:

She must have gotten it from our bookshelf - she likes dogs.

FHE Week 11

Week 11
We haven't had an "official" FHE for a few weeks now due to family being in town, birthdays, etc. BUT I do feel good that we've spent the time each Monday evening together even though it hasn't started and ended with prayer.

Anyways - last week we built a tent and played games together. Emmie LOVED building the tent. She was a great helper and even did a little dance once it was up.

at the last second Emmie bounced right in front of Matt's face - ha! I thought I should put this picture in as proof that I was there...

4 years ago today...

It was cold and raining...there was snow on the top of the Superstition mountains and early in the morning My parents, Matt, and I drove to the Mesa Temple. I knew that I was about to make some of the most important promises that one can make on Earth. I remember feeling warm and at peace. As I entered the Lobby, recommend in one hand, and Matt's hand in the other. I knew there was no other place in the world I would have rather been. March 11th is always a tender day, a day not shared with wedding memories, but one that I keep for me.

I love this part of the Family Proclamation:

“In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally."

I feel so blessed to know that by living worthy to make and keep these sacred covenants I will be able to not only return to Heavenly Father but also be united with my family for eternity.
