Blue Steel....

"I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is." - Derek Zoolander

Happy Easter!

We had a really wonderful Easter! My mom and dad came to our ward to hear Ceri and John sing in the ward choir (they did and excellent job). Then, after church, we headed over to my parents house and where our cousins from Prescott met up with us for Easter Dinner. (I always over eat during holiday meals...it was sooooo good). Ceri made these adorable Chick cupcakes...very Martha...

I always love Easter time! I love that it's during the time of year when the weather is perfect and all the flowers are blooming and bright. Our Easter church service was wonderful and really focused on our Savior - his life and atoning sacrifice. I feel so blessed to have a relationship with my savior and have the opportunity to continually learn of the tremendous gift of the atonement that he gave all of us that I might return to live with my Father in Heaven. I have always loved learning about Christ's life and teachings. How thankful I am to have a knowledge of his life, how he suffered for the world, and how he died and came to live again.

You are all invited!

Matt is having his Doctoral recital this Friday and everyone is invited to come!
Friday, March 21, 2008
7:30 p.m.
ASU Music Building East
Evelyn Smith Music Theater
(north side of Gamage Parkway - First floor)
adult only please...the recital will be recorded

Free Admission - Refreshments following the recital!

Matt's recitals are always a lot of fun. There is some pretty crazy percussion music out there and Matt gets to play a lot of it - some of it sounds like bloops and bleeps...some sounds like noise...and the rest is very beautiful - it's a good mix! We'd love to see you and share this evening with you! (the recital will last about an hour)

In honor of this announcement here are some random pictures of Matt with his drums...and his college band...Look at them being all serious and studly!
I don't know when this picture was taken but it's pretty good!
This isn't Matt...it's just funny

It's must be an art form!

This picture cracks me up. Her cereal gets ALL OVER HER when we feed her- between playing dodge ball with the spoon and spitting the food out it's just been easier to forgo the bib and strip her down. Funny girl.

Mom's B-day continued!

We celebrated that night at PF Chang's with our good friends, The Roots. We had a great time! Out side the Tempe restaurant is this artsy bike rack...we saw some other people take a picture on it and then decided it would be the perfect place for mom's 51st picture! (there is a video of what it took to get mom up there which is pretty dang funny...but it was dark out and you can't really see it...sad...)
After dinner we went back to my mom and dad's for dessert. I made a German Chocolate Cake for the occasion which is my mom's favorite....coincidentally it's also goes well with a running joke we've had with mom ever since we found out she's technically NOT an American Citizen....it's a long story but all stems back to her roots as an AirForce brat and someone not filing the proper papers....So since she was born in Germany we have had many a laughs on her expense.... So here is the boys "German" version of Happy Birthday....

and this is mom's best friend (and my co-worker), Michelle, playing along with the joke and singing mom the only German song she knows...(who knows if they're real words?)

...sorry this last one is so dark you can't see Michelle (she'll probably prefer it that way)

p.s. Kamarah: that's so fun that you guys share a March 8th b-day!

Tagged...take 2...

A few months ago I posted a response to being tagged....and then have been tagged again by other games and never did them... so because I like this one the best I'm doing it again! yeah! okay, here I go...

1. When I was little I took Karate and got up to a green belt with a few stripes....ooooah!

2. I love to start projects. I love getting all the materials and daydreaming about how much fun it's going to be to do the project - but half way through, I don't know why, I loose interest and either quickly finish (making it turn out not as great as it could have if I had spent more time) or I pack it up and store it in a closet.

3. The first thing I remember wanting "to be" when I grew up was an Olympic Gymnast. HA!

4. I rarely cook anything for dinner that uses a recipe. This doesn't mean that I'm a great cook - it just means that I like using the "season to taste" technique. (right now my favorite thing to make is Greek Chicken with Lime over noodles)

5. I'm a work out video junkie. I love work out videos and I have quite the collection to prove it. Right now I'm on a Turbo Jam kick. (I feel ridiculous while doing it...but it's a great video!)

6. In High School somehow my Government teacher convinced me to register as an Independent...I've since changed to Republican...but have been known to occasionally vote Democrat.

7. I love watching the weather segments on the news. High pressure....low pressure....it's so interesting and they get you to watch the whole thing by not showing the 5 day forecast until the very end...tricky!

All right, I tag anyone who would like to be tagged - even if you've already done it! (My original tag is back in November... just in case you read this and you want more!)

Thanks Kamarah!

For the longest time i've seen these types of bows around and then the other day I was checking my friends blog and there she had posted step by step instructions! Matt thinks the flower is too big - I think it's awesome! I'm sure there will be more bows to come!
