Fall Fling!

Our school puts on a "Fall Fling" on the Friday before Halloween every year. With the Fall Fling comes Crazy hair day. Emmie wasn't sure about it until she got to school and her teacher gave her a nice doo with blue spray paint and everything. She LOVED it! Emmie had the greatest time!
It's really lucky that her teacher takes pictures for me or I wouldn't have gotten to see how much she enjoyed her self! This year the "Fire Department" came. (It's actually this really cool Faux Fire Dept. company that does birthday parties and other events) She tried on the fire suit, got to sit in the driver seat and pull the loud fire horn, and spray a "burning house"(a big picture of a burning house). SO MUCH FUN!

Then to top it all off we went to our ward's Trunk-or-Treat. Emmie had a HUGE smile on her face and told me, "I love-e the trick and treat". She is dressed as Minnie Mouse. I have yet to get a good picture of her in it. I will. Have Happy Halloweekend Everyone! (I didn't come up with that...I stole it from the Target display....)

Pongo Boy

A co-worker asked me to make her a "Cruella De Ville" coat for her costume party. I had so much fun working on this short project! Here are the pics!

Before:
2 infant/toddler dalmatian costumes from Goodwill and an old red robe

After:
So Fun!A close up of the front

Every time I got out the project to work on it, Emmie would run and get her "Pongo boy" outfit (the 2nd costume that I didn't need to use). I'm wondering when Emmie will realize that Pongo boy is no longer around because I had to give it back. : ( out of sight out of mind...right? We will see when it's time to get ready for the Trunk or Treat! (wish us luck).

New Achievments

Emmie was so excited to show me what she drew this morning on the way to school. "Mommy, mommy, it's a smiley face!!" This is the first thing she's drawn that is not a scribble. My baby is getting so big!

Prime is getting big too! He cut his first tooth yesterday. We didn't even know he was teething! We can only cross our fingers and pray that they all come in as easy!

even in the heaviest of moods - somethings are still just plain funny

This has been a weekend - one very long, wonderful, and emotional weekend. Heidi took some pictures for our family at the visitation in Tempe. This is a picture she sent me this morning. I laughed out loud! Leave it to the kids to lighten the mood! Grandma would have liked this one! Ha!

simplifying, changing, and sharing

Simplify:
I just can't do it all...something that I've been having a hard time coming to terms with. But recently I've decided to take a chill pill and tell myself that it's okay not to be perfect - I've got a lot on my plate. So, with that in mind I've been simplifying different things in my life. One thing has been the Lime-Made blog. It was fun for a while - now it's just too much. Ceri and I are still crafting a lot - but remembering to take pictures and create posts was just a little much....so if there is going to be any posting it will be on our own blogs.

Changing:
Ceri and I decided that we really didn't like the name, "Lime-Made" so we've changed it - because we can. After some deliberation and discussion we've fallen in love with "Ellie & Fern" a little bit of each of us in the name. Hopefully, sometime soon, we will have the Etsy shop up and running!

Sharing:
This is my latest project. The Rollie Pollie by MADE I was a lot of fun to make and Emmie absolutely LOVES it! It was totally worth the $6 pattern purchase...I want to make one for me next!

The zipper was really fun to put in (is that weird? if so, so be it...)

I went with ruffling my handle - I thought it added a nice girly touch
The only thing that was a little hard to work around with this pattern is that when using the 1/2 seam allowance that Dana says to use, the Rollie Pollie top ends up too small so you have to either go back and make your sides smaller or pleat the extra fabric somewhere...I chose to pleat...Just fyi if you decide to ever make one...but who know's, maybe it was me. Do you see the pleat on the left side of the handle? It's really not noticeable unless you're looking for it.
And best of all - Emmie is in love with it!
(I love this picture - Emmie with her Light Saber from Uncle Adam, her red boots (that she tries to sleep in) and a chicken nugget, topped off on her new Rollie Pollie- she's a happy girl)

Tender around the edges

Today has been a tender one. My grandma passed away early this morning holding my mother's hand. Words can't describe the joy I feel for her. She has been wishing for this for a long time - well ever since her sweetheart passed in '92. I don't think Heavenly Father wanted her to stay here on Earth because he had some things he wanted HER to learn, I think he had her stay because he knew that she was the only one who could teach US some things. I feel blessed to have been able to know my grandma so well, and be so close to her.

These are some of the memories I've been thinking about today

~Being her helper as she made potato soup.
~Walking to and from Joy School together and picking figs off of the neighbors tree on our way.
~Waking up Christmas morning and huddling by her space heater while she told us stories.
~Taking her blood sugar and giving her insulin shots.
~Watching old western's together.
~As her memory declined she began to swear like a sailor - totally out of character for her - which made it really, really funny. One day at church she had been talking to a ward member and after the conversation was done and the person was walking away she turned to me and asked...probably a little to loudly, "$#!*, who the #@!! was that?" I think I laughed out loud.

I have tons of memories - probably some that no granddaughter should ever have of there grandma. But that's what's happen when your grandma lives in your home. Growing old isn't always graceful - sometimes it's just, well...hard. Grandma kept it real.

I can't help but think that there is a party going on in heaven tonight. Grandma is beautiful with curls in her hair and her apricot dress swirling as she dances with grandpa.

Here's to you, Grandma. I know you are smiling.

It's cool to co-op!

So...I've been hearing cool things about joining the co-op, Bountiful Baskets. This is the first time I did it and i must admit I was impressed! This is what I got for only $15. Rad.

Emmie Grace - My 3 year old

To make up for last year's "bad mom moment" of not taking any pictures of my girl on her 2nd birthday, I tried to take lots for her third...BUT my camera is still being a hassle. Kodak Easy Share....Karma will come and get you!

Emmie in the car going to school - she's excited to show everyone her "party" dress

Emmie woke up on her birthday and said, "It's my happy birthday! I need a marshmallow!"

Being cute with family at her party

The morning after the party....she's feeling pretty good about being 3!

Disney...we love you!

Okay so I've been a super slacker with blogging...but what can I say, life has been busy but I had to stop and share these pictures real fast. We took a spontaneous trip to Disneyland with my family before we had to pay for Emmie and before Ceri popped out her baby. It was a blast! (even with the demands of little ones) I was a little sad not to ride any big rides...but seeing Emmie's face light up on all the fantasy land rides totally made up for it!

Emmie Loved the Carousel!

Meeting the Characters...Emmie got kissed by Tigger...it was priceless - where was my camera then???

And what was primesicle doing the whole time?...he was in his happy place...where else but tied onto me...I'm going to be so sad when he's too big for the wrap. Check out the hat...this kid is too dang cute!
